Quentins by Maeve Binchy - SOLD

RM10 (SOLD!)
Condition: Good & Wrapped
Genre: Fiction

I am really really reluctant to let this go. Another of my personal favourites. However, I am also faced with the harsh reality of the fact that I will never have time to revisit this story again; and so I made the tough decision to let it go. A lovely story of the lives of people and a city through the history of the restaurant, Quentins. It is funny at times, and tear-jerking at others. A heart-warming book and you really would want to finish this in a sitting. I remember reading it during one of the Chinese New Year holidays and I enjoyed it immensely. And Maeve Binchy knows exactly how to make the characters feel like they're your family and your own circle of friends.

The Whole World Over by Julia Glass

RM15
Condition: Excellent & Wrapped
Genre: Fiction

Bought this while on a holiday. A cute story but not one for those who are in to finish a book fast. It's 500-pages long. But great writing style.

Synopsis on back cover:
Greenie Duquette lavishes most of her passionate energy on her Greenwich bakery and her four-year-old son, George. Her husband, Alan, seems to have fallen into a mid-life depression, while Walter, her closest professional ally, is nursing a broken heart. It is at Walter's restaurant that the visiting governor of New Mexico tastes Greenie's coconut cake and decides to woo her away from the city to be his chef. For reasons both ambitious and desperate, she accepts - and finds herself heading west without her husband. This impulsive decision, along with events beyond Greenie's control, will change the course of several lives around her. The Whole World Over is a vividly human tale of longing and loss, folly and forgiveness, revealing the subtle mechanisms behind our most important, and often the most fragile, connection to others.

High Risk

RM10
Condition: Good and Brand New (however, pages have turned a little yellow with time)
Genre: Fiction,
Thriller
(note: The photo of the cover is slight different from the original cover)

This is yet another book I never got to reading simply because I have a bad habit of buying more new books without finishing what I have yet. I bought it because I was intrigued by the synopsis. Unfortunately, I really am a busy bee. Looking for a new owner who would actually get down to reading it.

Snippet of synopsis on back cover:
In a single day of awesome destruction, nature's fury is unleashed on opposite sides of the Earth. While TV presenter Josie Turner's tycoon husband is stranded in a brutal storm on Everest, avalanche expert Hal Maher is involved in nailbiting rescue in a remote Alaskan valley. After the cataclysm, Josie and Hal are brought together in their own attempt on Everest. It becomes a desperate fight for survival.

The Custom of the Sea by Neil Hanson

RM12
Condition: Good and Brand New (however, pages have turned a little yellow with time)
Genre: A true story of shipwreck and cannibalism on the high seas

This is another book I never got to reading simply because I have a bad habit of buying more new books without finishing what I have yet. But I know it will be a good story. I actually bought it while I was in Australia a couple of years ago. Looking for a new owner who would actually get down to reading it. I am too busy for my own hobby.

Snippet of synopsis on back cover:
This is the true story of the voyage and the subsequent court case which outlawed for ever a practice followed since men first put to the ocean in boats: the custom of the sea.

Touched by an Angel

RM8
Condition: Used & Unwrapped
Genre: Fiction, based on stories from the Hit Television Series

I loved watching the series when I was younger, on Hallmark channel. Filled with heart-warming stories. Good always overcoming evil. All sorts of lessons to be learnt. A good read for weekends as part of your relaxation.

Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado

RM 18
(Actual retail price: RM39.95)
Condition: Good & Wrapped
Genre: Non-fiction, Christian literature

I bought this book when I was struggling with some issues in my life. A good book. Got me back on track. Got me standing through the realization of some truths. Would recommend to any friend or person who is wanting to face their giants in life. Max Lucado has a way of making complicated matters look simple. Easy to read.

Synopsis on back cover:
You know your Goliath. You recognize his walk. The thunder of his voice. He taunts you with bills you can't pay, people you can't please, habits you can't break, failures you can't forget, and a future you can't face. But just like David, you can face your giant, even if you aren't the strongest, the smartest, the best equipped, or the holiest.

David. You could read his story and wonder what God saw in him. His life has little to offer the unstained, straight-A saint. He fell as often as he stood, stumbled as often as he conquered. But for those who know the sound of a Goliath, David gives this reminder: Focus on the Giants - you stumble. Focus on God - your giants tumble.

If you're read to face your giants, let his story inspire you. The same God who helped him will help you.

Extreme Godchasers by Tommy Tenney

RM15
Condition: Good and wrapped
Genre: Non-fiction, Christian literature

I read this book when I was in Form 6. A good book. Challenges your faith. Read it if you dare.

Synopsis on back cover:
An extreme God chaser is a dreamer who has been captured by the hope of being caught by the Uncatchable One. He craves the pursuit like a child who chases a loving parent until, suddenly, the strong arms of the father enfold the chaser. The pursuer becomes the pursued...God chasers don't apologize for their passion as they run in relentless pursuit of Christ, even though they may appear foolish in the eyes of others.

The Rainmaker by John Grisham

RM12
Condition: Used & unwrapped
Genre: Fiction, Thriller

Another John Grisham. Fans of his will also grab this book to add on to their collection. Unfortunately, this was a book I purchased and never found the time to read. Instead of letting it sit on my shelf for eons, might as well let it go.

Synopsis on back cover:

It’s summer in Memphis. The sweat is sticking to Rudy Baylor’s shirt and creditors are nipping at his heels. Once he had aspirations of breezing through law school and punching his ticket to the good life. Now he doesn’t have a job or a prayer…except for one: an insurance dispute that leaves a family devastated and opens the door for a lawsuit, if Rudy can find a way to file it.

By the time Rudy gets to court, a heavyweight corporate defense team is there to meet him. And suddenly he’s in over his head, plunged into a nightmare of lies and legal maneuverings. A case that started small is exploding into a thunderous million-dollar war of nerves, skill, and outright violence – a fight that could cost one young lawyer his life, or turn him into the biggest rainmaker in the land…

The Client by John Grisham

RM10
Condition: Used & unwrapped
Genre: Fiction, Thriller

John Grisham. Need I say more? Fans of his will grab this book for their collection. One of the earlier books I read and it was quite a page-turner.

Synopsis on back cover: Eleven-year-old Mark Sway and his younger brother were sharing a forbidden cigarette when a chance encounter with a suicidal lawyer left Mark knowing a bloody and explosive secret: the whereabouts of the most sought-after dead body in America. Now Mark is caught between a legal system gone mad and a mob killer desperate to cover up his crime. And his only ally is a woman named Reggie Love, who has been a lawyer for all four years. Prosecutors are willing to break all the rules to make Mark talk. The mob will stop at nothing to keep him quiet. And Reggie will do anything to protect her client - even take a last, desperate gamble that could win Mark his freedom...or cost them both their lives.

#1 Best-seller phenomenon!

Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks

RM18
Condition: Excellent & Wrapped
Genre: Non-fiction, Memoir

Again, I am really reluctant to let this go. This book was surprisingly humorous from start to end. I have seldom read a memoir that is so easy to read and yet, ticklish! Fans get a peek into Sparks' life - a fascination for we only know him as a fictional author all these while.

Get this for a relaxing and yet, intriguing read.

The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks - SOLD!

RM18 (SOLD!)
Condition: Excellent & Wrapped

This book was so engaging I finished it from start to finish without a flinch. I just opened it, sat down and got my nose stuck to it till I was done. A really good ending. The kind of story that would have you crying out of being overwhelmed and yet, believing that such happiness does happen in life.

A good story. Fans of Nicholas Sparks, grab this! I am really reluctant to let this go but I know that I have to.

An apology

I want to apologize to those who emailed me in the last few weeks and only got a reply much later.

The reason is because I didn't realize that something was wrong with my account settings and hence, I didn't see your emails till much later. The problem has been fixed. If you email me, I will try my utmost best to reply within 24 hours.

And work in the last 3 weeks was super crazy, so I didn't have time to update on the status of some of the books. I will make it a point to update as soon as I have a buyer so the rest of you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for your patience, booklovers! =)

Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult - SOLD

RM18 (SOLD)
Genre: Fiction
Condition: Excellent & Wrapped

A real page-turner from start to end. This is one of the best books I've read! Only an author like Jodi Picoult is able to cover such a serious issue like high school shootings, and yet maintain a sense of humour in the appropriate of places, while blending in emotional rollercoaster rides and making good discussion of social issues today. You won't get bored at any point. At some pages you would probably laugh as loud as I did, and at others, you might shed a tear or two. But overall, very easy reading. It's easy to get lost in the book!

I am very reluctant to part with this book but a good story should get back out there. You don't want to miss a good book. Personally, this book was even better than The Time Traveler's Wife, and even that, was a really good book already. This book is top on my list for now, until I find another excellent book.

This book is priced at a slightly higher price because it is a really good book kept in very good condition and I am looking for someone who will take good care of it, and perhaps pass it on to another fellow booklover. =)

A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks

RM6
Genre: Fiction
Condition: Used & Unwrapped

Fans of Nicholas Sparks would devour this book. Another one of his stories, so heart-warming and so lovely. I got this book not 1st hand, hence the condition of book. But if you're one who doesn't really mind the condition of the bookcover, you would want this to add to your collection of sweet love stories. =) Most girls would love this.

In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner - SOLD

RM12 (SOLD!)
Genre: Fiction, Chick-lit
Condition: Good & Wrapped

I bought this book because the cover, more than anything caught my attention first! I am a booklover who tends to go against the caution to not judge a book by its cover! To me, I find it quite hard to read a book with a horrible-looking cover! I mean, as a designer/publisher, how hard is it to make sure your book cover's really captivating right? Anyway, I digress...Haha...

This book, unlike its cover, is slightly serious, as in not like a pure chick-lit, but is able to cover more real issues in life like sister rivalry, reflecting on one's weaknesses and failures, etc. My good friend who read it, as well, said it was a good book, with an interesting story line. I guess, if you saw the movie (which came out a few years after the book), you might want to get the book. However, I saw the movie and the book was much better. The book, is often better, in my opinion.

So if you like chick-lit, but can't stand the shallowness of typical girly gossip and nonsense, and at the same time, if you don't like intense fiction, this book is a good in-between.

Need my help?

I have been thinking about it and I have made a decision. If you have 2ndhand books and need them to be sold in my humble store, I am open to the idea. I know the pain of wanting to sell my books previously and I couldn't find an appropriate 2ndhand book store who wanted to adopt my books. So if you want to pass me your books, no problem!

Email me, if you want to work something out.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger - SOLD!

RM12
Genre: Fiction
Book Condition: Excellent & Wrapped

I seldom think highly of books that are "popular" all because I always find them to be a letdown. But this book goes against that rule. Literally, a page-turner from start to the end. If not for having to sleep and work, I would've swallowed this book at one go. But if you wanna get started, make sure you have your eyes glued to the pages. The story teaches us to value time. Value the present. Value people we love like never before. Definitely high on my list of personal favourites.

I find it hard to put this up for sale, then again, I thought better for it to make it to the hands of a fellow booklover, than for me to hoard it and leave it to collect dust on my dear bookshelves. =)
